センサー搭載の銃「ヤードアーム yardarm 」はリモートコネクトで銃の使用データを管理する。
これによって何がおこるかというと、警察官が銃を発砲した記録が残り、ジオデータで正確な場所で、何発、どの時間にどの角度で発射されたかなどがリアルタイムに記録送信される。
今まで何発、タマを行使したかはわかるが、位置や時間までやリアルタイムに使用状況がレポートされることはなかった。
とかく、警察官の不祥事や過剰な行動がとりざたされるだけに、これらのスマホ連動銃によって、不必要な行使や、応援軍を知らせるなどのアラートの役目にもなることだろう。

The Yardarm Safety First solution remotely connects gun owners to the Yardarm Sensor, which can be installed on any firearm to enable wireless, real-time control of the trigger safety, full motion detection, and geo-location tracking. Gun owners are immediately alerted via a mobile device applet if their firearm is picked up or handled by an unauthorized individual. Using the mobile app or secure website, the gun owner can instantly engage or disengage the trigger safety on the weapon upon motion sensing.
